Södertälje - Robert Massi opened the scoring with his third goal for the season, with Peter Ijeh adding his eleventh as Syrianska FC romped to a 3-0 victory against Östers IF. The convincing Sunday evenings win at the Södertälje Fotbollsarena keeps the Suryoye at the second place of the Superettan table - with six games of the season remaining. With Barsom injured, Melkemichel rang in the changes for Syrianska FC. Felic started in attack with Peter Ijeh. Özdemeriok, Suleyman, Skenderovic and Demir earning recalls in defence. Frealdsson was guarding the goal as Miller was called on duty for Jamaica. Ludwig Ernstsson countered Syrianska FC's 4-2-3-1 with a 4-1-4-1, with Freddy Borg leading the front line. A fast start by Syrianska FC saw Massi narrowly miss the target with a classy shot on the turn. Östers IF replied through Vidarsson, but his shot was an easily saved by Frealdsson. It was a question of when, not if, and Massi popped up with the deserved opener a minute short of the half hour when Felic won a battle in the midfield and found Hagernäs who found Massi in the left side of the penalty box. Massis well placed shot crashing beyond Ryden in the Öster goal and into the far corner. The Syriac (Aramaic) midfielder netted his third goal for this season. Syrianska FC piled on the pressure and Ryden made saves from Ijeh and Saleh. Borg had the best chance to equalise for Östers IF as Skenderovic struggled in the defence which resulted in all by himself Borg against Frealdsson but the Swedish keeper made a great save by blocking the shot with his right hand. Melkemichel’s men could easily have been two-nil up at the break. Ijeh rose unchallenged at the far post to nod wide a Velic cross and another save by Ryden on the stroke of half time. Östers IF started the second period with Bild on for Bojent to have an extra spring in their step. But Syrianska FC soon put the game beyond the visitor's reach when Skenderovic headed home after a corner kick by Velic. Peter Ijeh completed a miserable afternoon out for Östers IF with another fine effort in the closing stages as the Suryoye saved their energy for the game against first placed IFK Norrköping next week. He headed into the bottom left corner after a superb cross from Demir on the right flank. Text: Emanuel Yacoub Photo: Richard Ström
